This is the Orion Marine Boy, a popular Korean snack.
Each box contained snacks in a variety of marine-themed shapes: whale, squid, starfish, dolphin, crab, blowfish, turtle and tuna.
The marine-shaped snacks measured about 1 cm at their widest and had a thin, puffed-up shell coated in green and brown seasoning with a sweet-savory aroma. On tasting, their thinness delivered a crisp crunch. A subtle sweetness emerged initially, followed by the umami hint of seaweed. In the finish, the sweetness returned strongly. Overall, while the crisp texture could have been addictive, the pronounced sweetness overshadowed the otherwise mild seaweed flavor, which did not suit our preference for more savoury snacks.
This Orion Marine Boy contained 40 g. It was produced in South Korea and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
