The crisps smell like sun-dried tomatoes and the same umami-rich tomato flavour came through lightly sweet on the first bite before prominent savoury notes emerge mid-bite with a brief and gentle heat in the finish that recalled Worcestershire sauce. Overall, the flavour of Worcestershire sauce is very mellow compared to the intensity of the bottled sauce. Its effect here is to enrich the umami from the sun-dried tomatoes, which results in a savoury taste that is distinctly Asian. That’s not a particularly helpful description, but it is apt.
