This is the Morinaga Hi-Chew Momo Mansai, a celebration of peach featuring three distinct varieties: white peach from Yamanashi Prefecture, Shimizu white peach from Okayama Prefecture, and golden peach from Nagano Prefecture.

Each bag contained 24 extruded rectangular taffy pieces measuring approximately 2 × 1.5 × 1 cm. The pieces were divided evenly among the three flavours. The taffy had a satisfyingly chewy texture that released an immediate juicy peach quality. With each subsequent chew, the juiciness of the flavour intensified. The three varieties were distinct and easily identifiable.

Yamanashi White Peach
This flavour was made with concentrated juice from white peaches grown in Yamanashi Prefecture. Each piece had a pale orange exterior with a white interior and a floral, juicy aroma. The flavour emerged instantly, beginning with a sweet, floral profile. This developed mid-body into a deeper aromatic presence that persisted into the finish with a tangy acidity. This variety was the sweetest and most aromatic of the three.

Okayama Shimizu White Peach
This flavour was made with concentrated juice from Shimizu white peaches grown in Okayama Prefecture. Each piece had a white exterior with a yellow interior and a mellow peach aroma. The flavour appeared after a few chews, beginning very mild and almost flavourless. A gentle juiciness developed mid-body, culminating in a tangy acidity at the finish. The acidity balanced the early sweet floral notes, resulting in a delicate and well-rounded profile.

Nagano Golden Peach
This flavour was made with concentrated juice from golden peaches grown in Nagano Prefecture. Each piece had a vibrant orange exterior with a white interior and the fresh aroma of yellow peach. The flavour emerged immediately, delivering a full-bodied juicy sweetness. This developed into a bright, fresh acidity mid-body that peaked and lingered into the finish. This variety was the tangiest of the three, with a vibrant and refreshing character.
Overall, this was a skilfully executed set of peach flavours, each capturing the qualities of its variety—ranging from floral sweetness to balanced tang to vibrant acidity—while retaining the signature chewy juiciness of Hi-Chew. This selection is well worth repurchasing.
