Lion Nashi Gummy

This is the Lion Nashi Gummy. It used nashi pear purée of the koisui variety grown in Chiba Prefecture.

Each gummy exhibited an opaque yellow hue, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 0.5 cm in height, emanating a sweet aroma reminiscent of nashi. Upon the first taste, the initial mouthfeel involved a flavorless and powdery coating from the gummy’s mold. Biting through, the gummy presented a firm texture, providing some bounce, yet lacking elasticity, allowing the teeth to swiftly reach the soft nashi center. The exterior ‘gummy’ introduced a mild initial sweet nashi flavor, while the softer paste of nashi purée at the core delivered a much brighter rendition of the fresh fruit. In this combination, the crisp sweetness of the fruit emerged vibrantly, complemented by a subtle hint of balancing acidity. Consumed together, the softer center and firmer exterior produced a juicy nashi flavor with its crisp pineapple-like sweetness. However, both components melted rather swiftly on the palate, resulting in a shorter chew time compared to other gummies.

This Lion Nashi Gummy contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kagoshima, Japan in 2019.
