Nippon Yell Gummy Iwate Fuyukoi Apple

Iwate Prefecture ranks third in Japan for its significant apple cultivation area, benefiting from pronounced temperature fluctuations between day and night that result in apples renowned for their extraordinary sweetness. The Nippon Yell Gummy Iwate Fuyukoi Apple used the juice of Fuyukoi (Haruka) apples sourced from Iwate Prefecture.

Haruka apples display a vibrant lemon-yellow peel, exude a robust fragrance, and offer a crisp texture. Their defining feature is the accumulation of fruit juice within, akin to honey. This distinct attribute aligns with the winter season, particularly December when Haruka apples flourish, and the sweetest variations, referred to as ‘Fuyukoi’ (translating to ‘winter heart’), are available.

Each gummy was an opaque yellow hue, with dimensions of approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, accompanied by a distinctly crisp and sweet apple aroma. Upon the first taste, the gummy’s exterior provided a satisfyingly firm and resilient chew that gradually transitioned to the softer, jelly-like core. Progressing through the resilient outer layer revealed a delicate hint of acidity, effectively encapsulating the flavour of fresh fruit. The inner jelly, reminiscent of honey, contributed an engaging textural variation. While these gummies adeptly captured the fruit’s hallmark honey-like sweetness, it’s noteworthy that the vivid apple scent exceeded the apple’s flavour due to its restrained acidity.

This Nippon Yell Gummy Iwate Fuyukoi Apple contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2023.
