This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Shiga Mio Shizuku Strawberry, made with jam from Mio Shizuku strawberries grown in Shiga Prefecture. As the prefecture’s first original variety, Mio Shizuku is noted for its refreshing sweetness, floral fragrance, bright red colour, and balanced tartness.
Each gummy was dome-shaped, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with an opaque light pink-orange hue and a gently tart strawberry aroma.
On tasting, the surface crystals delivered an immediate tang before yielding to a tender, bouncy chew from the gummy exterior, which enclosed a softer jelly-like core. The strawberry flavour appeared right away, beginning with a vibrant tartness that developed mid-body into a refreshing sweetness from the jelly. In the latter half, a floral quality emerged, highlighting the distinctive profile of the Mio Shizuku strawberry. The firmer gummy shell prolonged the chew, extending the experience of its tart, sweet, and fragrant notes.
Overall, these gummies conveyed the tartness, sweetness, and floral fragrance of Mio Shizuku strawberries with clarity, offering a vivid and aromatic expression of the fruit.
