This is the Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Cola & Ramune. It used konjac produced in Gunma Prefecture.
The cola-flavoured jelly had a translucent brown hue. It featured the characteristic bounciness of konjac, with the cola flavour immediately noticeable, offering balanced sweetness and mellow acidity, even with the use of artificial sweeteners. As the flavour developed, a hint of refreshing aromatic sharpness emerged. The cola taste was spot-on, reminiscent of a well-made cola-flavoured gummy.
The ramune-flavoured jelly had a translucent off-white hue. It provided the same bouncy konjac texture, accompanied by a cool sensation on the palate. The ramune flavour was immediate, delivering a refreshing sweetness with mellow lime acidity and a subtle gingery sharpness typical of ramune. As with the cola flavour, the sweetness was well-balanced by the acidity, despite the use of artificial sweeteners.
Although both flavours were refreshing low-calorie snacks, we preferred the crisp quality of the cola.
This Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Cola & Ramune contained 240 g (20 g x 6 cola pieces, 20 g x 6 ramune pieces). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
