Since our previous trip to Japan, we’ve noticed more exotic flavours released for our favourite jellies. This Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Kiwifruit was one of three we picked up.

A green-coloured pouch contained the jelly which used 10% kiwi juice.

The jelly was a translucent off-white colour with the sweet aroma of fresh kiwifruit at peak ripeness. Upon tasting, the jelly had an addictive bounciness characteristic of konjac jellies while there was a prominent acidity in the taste that was countered by a more mellow sweetness and a slightly astringent mouthfeel, while the fresh kiwifruit flavour lingered pleasantly on the palate. Overall, the taste was very enjoyable and remarkably similar to a fresh kiwifruit a few days before peak ripeness suggested by the aroma.
This Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Kiwifruit contained 20 g x 6 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Nagasaki, Japan in 2019.
