Back in August 2018, Krispy Kreme released a Maxibon Doughnut and Peters released a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut Maxibon sold exclusively at 7-Eleven. The doughnut was easy enough to track down but the numerous 7-Eleven stores we visited we out of stock of the Maxibon every time we checked. Fast forward a few months to November, we found the freezer stocked full with these Maxibons out of the blue and snapped one up on the spot.
The Maxibon has an Original Glaze flavoured ice cream, sandwiched on one end with a caramel biscuit and coated with white chocolate and doughnut crumbs on the other.
We weren’t sure initially that the flavour would translate — after all, the doughnut is sweet and fluffy but there’s not really a defining flavour. To our surprise though, the caramel ice cream together with the crumbs in the white chocolate coating and the caramel flavoured biscuit does indeed recall an Original Glazed Doughnut. The softness of (all) Maxibon biscuits lends itself well to conjuring the flavour of the doughnut, as does the crispness of the white chocolate coating. We’re impressed, though the Original Glaze is mixed into the caramel ice cream and not streaked through as the images suggest.
This Peters Maxibon Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut contained 155 ml. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
