This is the Bubble Nini Tea Honey I’m Home Sparkling ($8.00) with butterfly pea flower tea, sparkling water, fresh lemon and lime, honey, chia seeds, aloe vera and mint. I’ve been wary of butterfly pea flower tea, simply because it’s beautiful aesthetic makes for a photogenic beverage that may not necessarily live up to the price it commands. But with a Liven care package and in the mood for something bright and refreshing, this one from Bubble Nini surprised me.

The beverage has a moderately high carbonation with the lemon notes coming through front and centre and avoiding associations with bottled lemonade. The acidity is enjoyable and balanced well by the addition of the honey, while the chia seeds add a gentle crunch along with their gummy exterior that complements the larger cubes of aloe vera that bite through cleanly.

A pretty variation on the drink involves adding sakura pearls (+$1.00), which gave the drink a sweeter and slightly floral flavour.

Overall, both the original and the variation are fresh and refreshing drinks with plenty of texture.
