This Gong Cha Apple Green Tea ($5.00 for regular, includes cubes of fresh apple, +$0.80 for aloe, and little sugar) is in stark contrast to the Chatime Apple Green Tea. The most obvious difference, of course, is that it’s not a bright translucent green colour, but a cloudy amber colour much like a strong green tea with small cubes of fresh apple. Consumed chilled, this Gong Cha version has the bright aroma of fresh apple juice that came through with a crisp sweetness at the head of each sip that recalled apple skin before strong notes of moderately astringent green tea emerged in the body. Sweeter notes recalling fleshy apple juice returns in the finish and before leaving a crisp and clean apple flavour lingering refreshingly in the aftertaste. The small cubes of apple are crisp and add bright pops of fresh apple flavour to complement the apple flavour in the tea.

For a similar price, Gong Cha’s version a much more sophisticated take on an apple green tea.
