Chōjuen Tea Mode Yamagata La France Kukicha

This is the Chōjuen Tea Mode Yamagata La France Kukicha.

The blend combined green tea from Japan and black tea from Sri Lanka, with the kukicha stems processed into semi-fine tea particles rather than retaining their original twig form.

Steeping a 1.5 g tea bag in 200 mL of water at 75ºC for 1 minute produced a translucent yellow-green infusion with a delicate fruity aroma over a soft grassy base. A single tea bag produced up to two flavourful steeps.

When consumed hot, the tea presented a mellow natural sweetness at the head of each sip, followed by gentle floral notes characteristic of La France pear. These gave way to a light vegetal body before the floral-fruity notes re-emerged toward the finish, offering an elegant complement to the fresh green tea base. The texture was consistently smooth, without astringency or bitterness, resulting in a refined and soothing cup. It offered a graceful variation on standard green tea—subtle, fragrant, and quietly indulgent.

Overall, a charmingly aromatic tea that balanced fruit and leaf in equal measure, ideal for a serene, restorative moment.

This Chōjuen Tea Mode Yamagata La France Kukicha contained 12 g (1.5 g x 8 tea bags). The tea was sourced from Japan and Sri Lanka, packed in Japan and purchased in Yamagata, Japan in 2024.
