This is the Arnott’s Tim Tam Crafted Collection Dimbulah Mountain Estate Coffee and Choc. The coffee is a single origin Arabica coffee from Dumbulah Mountain Estate in northern Queensland, which won a bronze medal in the International Contest of Coffees Roasted in their Countries of Origin in 2016.

Each biscuit is 7 x 3 x 1.5 cm, with The Dimbulah Mountain Estate coffee flavouring the cream sandwiched between biscuits that are also flavoured with the coffee and then covered in milk chocolate.

The Tim Tams have a sweet coffee aroma that came through as an initial sweetness on tasting the milk chocolate. Crunching through the biscuits, their lightly unsweetened and gentle coffee flavour developed with its bitterness tempered by the milk chocolate. The coffee notes amplify dramatically in the body on reaching the buttercream, but the sweetness of the latter keeps the bitterness subtle. Overall, the biscuit had a balanced coffee and chocolate flavour, but we’d have preferred either a more restrained sweetness in the buttercream for a bolder coffee flavour.
