Each crisp represented an intact strawberry, exhibiting variations in size, and emitted an aroma reminiscent of strawberry-flavoured black tea—fruity, yet devoid of its characteristic sweetness. Upon tasting, the crisps delivered an audible crunch, offering minimal resistance to the teeth. These strawberries swiftly rehydrated upon contact with saliva, promptly releasing the sweetness and acidity inherent in fresh fruit. This transition resulted in a pureed consistency, with the inclusion of strawberry seeds introducing an additional layer of textural crunch. The interior displayed a softer or ‘lighter’ quality compared to the exterior. This contrast echoed the fresh strawberries afflicted with the ‘hollow heart’ condition. Overall, we found these crisps to be a satisfying option, characterized by their concentrated strawberry flavour and crispy texture. As such, we would consider repurchasing them.
