Eikokuya Pear Fruits Tea

This Eikokuya Fruits Tea comes as a sampler with five black teas and five large pieces of different dried fruits. It’s somewhat old, so there’s some discolouration in the fruit. This one is Eikokuya Pear Fruits Tea.

Each fruit flavour comes in individually sealed envelopes containing the tea bag of black tea and the dried pear.

Steeping one tea bag with the dried fruit in water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the infusion was a clear deep red colour with a sweet black tea nose and some sediment from the dried pear breaking down.

Served hot with one teaspoon of sugar, the flavour was black tea through and through with the dried pear adding very little flavour. The pear becomes mushy in the tea and isn’t appetizing or flavourful. As a black tea, though, it’s pleasant with a natural sweetness and minimal bitterness or astringency.

This Eikokuya Pear Fruits Tea was part of a set of five different flavours and contained 4 g. The tea originated in Sri Lanka and was purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2014.
