We picked up this bag of Finna Nusantara Prawn Cracker on a whim while looking for the more conventional prawn crackers.

Out of the bag, these prawn crackers were an opaque orange colour and about 2.5 x 2 cm in size without much aroma. They contain 15.3% shrimp.

Preparing the prawn crackers as recommended in a deep fryer with oil, the crackers expand to around double their size and have a pale orange colour. Upon tasting, the crackers have an audible crunch through 3 mm, that’s light and airy with just enough density to deliver a healthy prawn flavour.
Having to deep fry prawn crackers every time in a bother though, and we’ve long discovered that prawn crackers cook to a similar quality in the microwave. Arranged in a ring around the outer edge of the microwave and heated at 1100 w for 35 seconds, the prawn crackers puff up to a similar size, colour and flavour for a super quick and tasty snack without any oil or hassle.
This Finna Nusantara Prawn Cracker contained 380 g. It was produced in Indonesia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
