These were the Haribo Tropifrutti, which Haribo’s signature ‘hard on the outside, soft on the inside’ texture.

Each bag featured six colours in a six different shapes. The packaging doesn’t indicate the corresponding tropical flavours for each colour, so we’ve had to make our own deductions:

• Purple was passionfruit. The tart and tangy tropical quality of the fruit was most evident at the head of each bite but faded towards the body as the sweetness takes over.
• Red was pomegranate. The fruit’s cranberry-like flavour came through sweet and slightly tart at the head of each bite and persisted into the finish.
• Orange was pink grapefruit. There’s citrus notes were unmistakable with a hint of the fruit’s bitterness that unfortunately gave this one a medicinal hint.
• Green was kiwifruit. The fruit’s slightly acidic cross between a strawberry, banana and pineapple was very evident and fresh with a hint of acidity to counter its sweetness.
• Yellow was banana. There was no mistaking the taste of banana in this one — it’s the typical banana flavouring that tasted ‘artificial’ due to being a super concentrated version of the flavour in the fruit.
• White was pineapple. The pineapple flavour was sweet but lacked the acidity of the fresh fruit. We preferred the pineapple flavour in the Gold Bears.

Overall, these were enjoyable gummy candy, although they had less of a bounce on the teeth and more of a softer ‘gooey’ mouthfeel than the Gold Bears.

This Haribo Tropifrutti contained 100 g. It was produced in Germany and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
