This is the Iwatsuka Seika Sakura Ebi Kakimochi. This is an arare type of rice cracker that is typically made from glutinous rice. While it is typically flavoured with soy sauce, it is instead flavoured with sakuraebi in these crackers.

Each piece is individually wrapped and about 8 x 4 x 1 cm in size with visible flecks of sakuraebi.

Upon tasting, the cracker had a bright ebi aroma while a gentle savoury quality came through on first contact before the cracker gave way with an audible crunch. Nutty rice notes dominated the start of each bite before the fishy, salty and slightly sweet flavour of the sakuraebi emerged mid-bite and developed to a rich savoury finish. This arare type of rice cracker was lighter and airier than the ones from Mikawaya Seika with the more restrained fishiness and absence of enriching umami from the sweet soy sauce making these less addictive.
This Iwatsuka Seika Sakuraebi Kakimochi contained 150 g or 9 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
