This is the Kakuya Foods Yuzu no Manma. It consisted of candied yuzu peel from Miyazaki Prefecture.

Each piece ranged in length from about 1 to 3 cm, with a width of 0.5 mm and a thickness of 0.7 mm. They had a deep golden yellow colour and emitted a lively yuzu aroma.

Each piece offered a satisfyingly chewy texture upon tasting, beginning with a sweet yuzu flavour that gradually transitioned into a bright, floral zestiness as the citrus oils were released. With continued chewing, this zestiness evolved into a vibrant sourness, culminating in a fragrant finish. The candied aspect contributed sweetness and a subtle chewiness, while the fruit’s preparation skillfully avoided bitterness from the pith.

Although the citrus oils resulted in a slight numbing sensation, the experience was enjoyable and the product was worth repurchasing, even prompting interest in attempting to replicate it using fruit from our yuzu tree.

This Kakuya Foods Yuzu no Manma contained 33 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Hong Kong in 2023.
