Kettle Chip Company released their Native Flavour Collection in 2022 to ‘honour the unique and tasty ingredients that we find in our own plentiful land — from the top end to the apple isle and the great plains in between’. This is the Kakadu Plum & Australian Aged Cheddar flavour.

The chips were dusted in a fine yellow seasoning and had a savoury-sour aroma much like French onion-flavoured chips. Upon tasting, the gently tart notes of the Kakadu plum came through at the start of each bite and developed with the subtle sharpness of the cheddar before a fruity hint of the plum returned to linger in the finish. Overall, this flavour was not only an interesting take on the more mainstream French onion flavour but also well executed with elegance, making it well worth trying.
