The pink guava juice impressed us enough for us to pick up the other flavours by the same brand, so this is Kushi Premium Pomegranate Juice, which contained 25% juice from 7 pomegranates.

The juice is a transparent bright red colour with a sweet and slightly sour aroma like satonishiki cherries (the bright red ones popular in Japan rather than the darker skinned ones). Served chilled, the same sweet notes that characterise satonishiki cherries came through developing with a mild acidity into the body, and a sweet lingering aftertaste.

Overall, the flavour was much sweeter with less acidity than the fresh pomegranate we’re used to (which explains the close resemblance of flavour to satonishiki cherries) making it much more palatable than some straight pomegranate juices we’ve tried, like the freshly squeezed bottles by Top Juice, but also reminiscent of the overly sweet cough medicine from childhood when consumed in large mouthfuls.
