Lion Nashi Cough Drops

These Lion Nashi Cough Drops are part of the same series as the dekopon flavour. They’re made with the pulp of fresh nashi pears from Chiba Prefecture which boasts of having the biggest harvest volume, the largest cultivated area and the highest output value for nashi pears in Japan. The pears are known for their fragrant freshness and high sugar content.

The drops are elliptical in shape, opaque white in colour, about 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm in size, and sealed individually.

The drops have a notable scent of sweet and fragrant nashi that is amplified at least ten-fold on dissolving slowly in the mouth. A prominent natural sweetness spreads throughout from the start, and as the candy dissolves over the next ten minutes, we appreciate the elegant, fresh flavour of the fragrant nashi. The candy leaves no aftertaste, but does contained 21 herbal extracts that are detectable in the background but in no way interferes with the nashi flavour that is front and centre.

This is one of our favourite hard candies and we were disappointed to discover that it wasn’t sold in the Kansai region when we wanted to return for more later on in our trip in 2018.

This Lion Nashi Cough Drops contained 80 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2018.
