The Nakahata Teyaki Senbei Goma Hata is a regional specialty from the Tsugaru area in Aomori Prefecture, featuring charcoal-grilled senbei with a distinctive texture and flavour.

Each cracker measured approximately 10 cm in diameter and 2–3 mm thick, with a slightly convex centre surrounded by a 1 cm-wide rim, giving it the appearance of a shallow, flattened dome. One side was generously coated with black sesame seeds.

The texture was dense and firm with a crisp crunch, while the cracker itself had a wheaty, wafer-like quality. As the cracker was chewed, its savoury flavour intensified, becoming deeply satisfying. The black sesame seeds, concentrated in the centre and extending through about two-thirds of the cracker’s thickness, enhanced the crunch while adding a warm, roasted nuttiness. This rich, aromatic sesame flavour developed further with each bite, without any bitterness.
While the black sesame version was excellent, we found the peanut variety, which we tried freshly made in-store, to be even tastier due to its firmer crunch and slightly sweeter nuttiness. The combination of textures and flavours made for a highly enjoyable snack that was more satisfying than similar crackers in the Komatsu Iwateya Nanbu Senbei Shun no Mori.
This Nakahata Teyaki Senbei Goma Hata contained 8 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Hirosaki, Japan in 2024.
