This is the Seika Foods Pineapple Ame, a variation on the original Bontan Ame, a type of gyūhi mochi.

Each piece of candy is 2 x 2 x 1 cm in size and opaque yellow colour. The candy is soft to touch and wrapped in an edible outer layer of rice paper. with almost no smell. Upon tasting, the rice paper dissolves on contact without any flavour before the teeth sink into the dense and chewy mochi-like texture of the candy. The pineapple flavour came through very quickly after the rice paper dissolves and persisted through to the end of the chew with a richly sweet, juicy flavour of fresh golden pineapples. The candy is truly delicious with its rich, natural flavour and its bouncy texture.
This Seika Foods Pineapple Ame contained 50 g or 10 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
