This is the Seiki Kinako Walnut Mochi. It consisted of mochi with walnuts, coated in kinako sugar.

Each bag contained 15 pieces, each with an organic shape, around 3 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm in height.

The exterior kinako coating delivered a pleasant nutty sweetness as we bit through to the soft mochi, which had a tender and delicate texture. Amidst the soft mochi, the subtle crunch of the walnut provided a delightful contrast. The walnut contributed an earthy and woody flavour, introducing a touch of bitterness and depth to the nuttiness of the kinako. It also served to balance the overall sweetness of the soft mochi and kinako. In summary, we found these kinako walnut mochi to be enjoyable, especially appreciating the nuanced nutty flavour that the walnuts added to the kinako, a taste that is often prominent in Japanese confections.

This Seiki Kinako Walnut Mochi contained 220 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
