Toyo Suisan Maruchan Seimen Hojun Koku Shōyu

This is the Toyo Suisan Maruchan Hojun Koku Shōyu, offering a rich soy based ramen enriched with dashi stock.

The package included dehydrated noodles, a liquid soup base sachet, a powdered soup base sachet, and a flakes sachet (containing dehydrated soy meat and spring onions). Preparation of these noodles involved emptying the sachets onto the noodles, adding 410 mL of boiling water, and alloweing them to soak for 5 minutes.

The soup base had a clear brown hue and a glistening aroma oil that emitted a robust soy sauce scent. Upon tasting, it revealed a rich flavour profile, with the dashi adding a subtle note of dried fish complexity. The noodles were smooth and elastic, adept at soaking up the broth, resulting in a flavourful bite every time. The crispy seaweed contributed an umami boost, and the dehydrated soy meat offered a remarkably meat-like texture and flavour, despite its thinness. In sum, these noodles provided a highly enjoyable experience, characterized by excellent flavours and a refined texture that justified their premium status.

This Toyo Suisan Maruchan Seimen Hojun Koku Shōyu contained 119 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
