This is the Prima Food Singapore Laksa La Mian, which is described as ‘premium noodle[s] in aromatic coconut soup’.

Each package includes a dried cake of ‘steamed non-fried premium noodles’, a sachet of laksa paste and a laksa premix (of powdered coconut milk). The noodles are prepared by bringing the contents of the two sachets in 500 mL of water to a boil, then boiling the noodles in the soup for 7 minutes.

The texture of the noodles was an absolute delight, retaining an al dente bite with subtle chew even after boiling for 7 minutes. They carried the flavour of the laksa broth remarkably well, allowing us to enjoy its creamy, rich coconut broth with every bite. The broth lacked the spice promised in a usual laksa, yet delivered the depth of flavour with the notable presence of shrimp and galangal, making it a very enjoyable and balanced broth.

We’ve had less satisfying laksa at a restaurant, easily, and would not be disappointed if served these noodles with some fresh seafood on top. However, compared to our usual Korean and Japanese branded instant noodles, the higher price (about 5x) and extended cooking time (about 2-3x) means we’re not sure if the flavour of these noodles is worth the premium for a regular pantry staple, but we wouldn’t say no if offered.

This Prima Food Singapore Laksa La Mian contained 185 g. It was produced in Singapore and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
