It’s been a while since we’ve had a looseleaf tea here, so this here is Lupicia Tokio, one of their most popular teas along with the Momo Oolong Super Grade.

The looseleaf contained green tea blended with marigold petals and scented with lightly sweet berries.

Steeping 3 g of tea leaf in 200 mL of water at 80°C for 2 minutes, the tea was a clear yellow colour with a crisply sweet berry nose. Served hot, the same crisp berry notes – with a sweetness that recalled ripe strawberries – came through in the head of the sip before the more vegetal notes of green tea emerged in the background of the body and develop with subtle umami notes and light astringency in the finish. While the aftertaste is clean, the berry notes persist crisply throughout the sip with a natural flavour and mellow sweetness, making it refreshing and easy to drink and perfect chilled.

This Lupicia Tokio contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from Japan, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Kyōto, Japan in 2015.
