This is the Angel Yeast New Orleans Grilled Wings Marinade, a powdered seasoning blend for baked chicken wings.

The marinade consisted of vibrant orange granules with a smoky, garlicky aroma. Preparation followed a ratio of 70 g marinade to 1 kg of meat. The chicken was first brined for 10 minutes before draining, then massaged with the marinade to ensure even coating. The wings were left to rest in the refrigerator for 3–4 hours, before being baked in a preheated 230ºC oven: 5 minutes initially, followed by 10 minutes, then brushed with honey, turned, and baked for a further 10 minutes.

Served hot, the wings appeared with a slightly charred orange-red hue and an inviting smoky, sweet, and savoury aroma. On tasting, the rendered fat gave the meat a juicy and tender texture, while the coating captured a layered flavour profile. The initial hit was a bold smokiness with roasted garlic undertones, followed by a balanced sweetness from the honey that softened the intensity. Mid-palate, the savoury depth of the marinade came through with notes reminiscent of barbecue sauce, while a gentle chilli heat built towards the finish. The aftertaste lingered with a mix of caramelised sweetness, savoury spice, and a faint smokiness that evoked grilled wings straight off a barbecue.
Overall, a convenient and flavourful marinade that delivered both aroma and taste—certainly one we’ve repurchased.
