Tetley Chai Latte Salted Caramel

Chai tea has never piqued my curiosity. Indeed, there is not a single chai tea in my collection of teas. I’d never tried it simply because it didn’t seem like something I’d enjoy. So when offered a free sample of this Tetley Chai Latte Salted Caramel, it was about time I’d tried it.

The chai latte is made with a real spice mix of cinnamon, ginger, cloves and cardamon.

Each sachet contained a white powder speckled brown with a fragrant spice aroma.

Sitting in 240 mL of hot water, the chai latte is an opaque pale brown colour with a fragrant spice aroma and layer of thick foam. Served hot, a savoury dairy flavour hits the palate before the rich mix of cinnamon, ginger, cloves and cardamon emerged and persisted throughout the body ahead of a return of a savoury milky finish that lingered unpleasantly into the aftertaste. Overall, the thick foam makes the chai latte creamy, while the liquid itself avoids the thinness of sachet coffees, but in terms of taste, it’s essentially salty spiced milk and not for me.

This Tetley Chai Latte Salted Caramel contained 200 g or 8x 25 g serves. It was produced in New Zealand and received as a sample in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
