This is the Zokoko Artisan Chocolate Black Sesame. A paste of lightly toasted black sesame seeds was blended with milk chocolate. It contained 40% cacao and 20% black sesame.

The bar was milk chocolate, with one side covered in black sesame seeds.

Upon tasting, the milk chocolate swiftly melted into a velvety and creamy texture on the palate. By mid-bite, the chocolate flavor intensified with a deep richness and a subtle nuttiness that melded with a caramel-like sweetness, persisting into the finish. However, the distinct nuttiness in the bar did not clearly originate from black sesame, as the chocolate’s richness overshadowed the subtle nuances of its nuttiness. The most noticeable presence of black sesame came from the seeds on the surface, providing a crunchy element.

While the texture and flavor undeniably reflected the quality of expensive chocolate, the overall taste resembled that of nutty milk chocolate with a crunchy texture, lacking a distinct black sesame flavour despite making up 20% of the bar. Perhaps incorporating black sesame into white chocolate would have yielded a bolder black sesame result.
