These Ferrero Eggs Cocoa are a kind of egg released by Ferrero during Easter and the second of two flavours after the hazelnut that we tried earlier.

These eggs are individually wrapped in a brown foil, whereas the hazelnut flavour was gold.

The cocoa flavour is described as a ‘crisp dark and milk chocolate covered specialty with smooth cocoa filling’. The surface of the egg is shiny.

A cross-section of the egg shows the precise structure with the gianduja filling encased in a wafer that’s been enrobed in a layer of milk chocolate and finished with a final layer of dark chocolate.

The crisp of the wafer is what we first notice on biting into these eggs, followed swiftly by the dark chocolate that melts to a smooth consistency and a gentle bitterness that contrasts well with the sweetness of the centre. The sweeter notes of the milk chocolate came through towards the end of the bite as we continue to crunch through the wafer before the bitterness of the dark chocolate returns in the finish. We enjoy the stronger hazelnut notes in the hazelnut version and the original Ferrero Rocher but we’d eat these in a heartbeat.

This Ferrero Eggs Cocoa contained 100 g or 10 eggs. It was produced in Italy and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
