Koikeya Pure Potato Atsugiri no Zeitaku Five Star Spice Consomme

This is the Koikeya Pure Potato Atsugiri no Zeitaku Five Star Spice Consommé, crafted to emulate the flavour of a consommé made with “slow-boiled chicken, beef, vegetables, and 10 spices.”

The chips were thick-cut, approximately 1–1.5 mm in thickness, and dusted with a seasoning powder in orange and brown hues. They carried a rich aroma reminiscent of bolognese sauce.

On tasting, the chips delivered a satisfying crunch due to their thicker cut. An initial rounded savoury flavour emerged, followed by a robust potato presence. Midway through each bite, the bolognese-like aroma evolved into a bold and complex consommé flavour. The deep umami notes from the chicken and beef were balanced by subtle sweetness from the vegetables, while the blend of spices added a rich complexity. Together, these elements enhanced the potato’s natural flavour, making the chips irresistibly moreish.

These chips captured the umami depth and layered flavours of slow-boiled chicken, beef, and vegetables, with onion notes and a touch of salt elevating the potato’s inherent deliciousness.

This Koikeya Pure Potato Atsugiri no Zeitaku Five Star Spice Consommé contained 52 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sendai, Japan in 2024.
