The Moo-phoria range by Ben & Jerry’s markets itself as a light ice cream containing only 150-160 calories per serving compared to the 250 calories in their standard flavours. That means it contained a minimum of 5.4% milk fat and minimum of 25% less milk fat than their standard ice cream. The idea is to deliver the same ‘funky chunks and whirly swirls’ that Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is known for but with less damage to the waist line.

The ice cream consisted of chocolate and vanilla light ice cream swirled with chocolate chip cookies (14%). It’s inspired by dunking chocolate chip cookies in chocolate milk.

The chocolate used in Ben & Jerry ice creams is always rich with good depth of flavour. Here, the chocolate is no exception with the swirls of vanilla ice cream providing relief in between mouthfeel. The chunks of chocolate chip cookies are scattered generously throughout and bring a chewiness and added crunchy pop of chocolate flavour. The ice cream is smooth and creamy, despite the reduction in milk fat content, although it does taste less rich than the Brownie Batter Core, which knocks us out with its richness.
