Elderflower is one of my favourite florals. Indeed, I acquired a taste for it even before rose and chrysanthemum. And this Kopparberg Elderflower & Lime Cider is one of the few, if not the only, elderflower flavoured cider I’ve encountered. It adds the juice of both elderflower and lime to an apple cider.

The cider is a transparent very pale straw colour with a floral and citrusy nose and moderate carbonation. Served chilled, the sweet notes of elderflower emerged in the head before a balanced zesty and acidic lime developed in the body with a slight astringency. The gentle sweetness recedes in the finish, leaving a drier, yet still refreshing aftertaste much like an elderflower and lime cordial. Served over ice, as suggested on the bottle, the floral and acidic notes of elderflower and lime are mellowed from the very start of the sip, leaving a cider that’s tastes like dry elderflower and lime cordial through and through, and so very easy to drink.
This Kopparberg Elderflower & Lime Cider contained 500 ml. It was bottled in Sweden and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
