This is the UHA Mikakutō Yamagata Gumi Okitama Delaware, featuring the juice of Delaware grapes grown in Okitama, Yamagata Prefecture, along with apple juice. This flavour was developed in collaboration with UHA Mikakutō and JA Yamagata, the agricultural association for the prefecture.

Okitama, located in the southern inland area of Yamagata Prefecture, is Japan’s leading producer of Delaware grapes. The region’s rich natural environment has supported agriculture since ancient times, making it particularly renowned for these small, sweet, deep purple grapes.

Each gummy had a deep purple-red hue and was shaped like a triangular cluster of grapes, measuring 2 × 2 × 1 cm. It emitted a sweet, fruity aroma of red grapes. On tasting, the gummy offered a very soft and stretchy mouthfeel, with the teeth sinking easily into its bouncy resistance. The use of fish gelatin, which has a lower melting point than regular gelatin, allowed the gummy to maintain its shape while also enabling the sweetness of the red grapes to emerge almost immediately after just a chew or two. By the third bite, the flavour deepened with subtle acidity, developing into a rich, juicy sweetness accompanied by a fruity spiciness that set it apart from the muskier notes of Concord grapes.

The unique bouncy texture and rich flavour distinguished these gummies from other grape-flavoured varieties, making them worthy of repurchase.
