This Woolworths Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream sat for an embarrassingly long time in our freezer after we brought it home before we mustered up the courage to try it. Truth be told, we’re not the biggest fans of raisin and spice but were caught in the hype surrounding Easter themed foods. While it was an embarrassingly long time, we were surprised it had not yet expired!

The ice cream has a very prominent spiced aroma that didn’t bode well for first impressions. Upon tasting, though, the spiced notes are more subdued as they’re mellowed by the cream. The raisins brought texture and a hint of acidity that provided relief from the sweetness of the cream. Overall, it tasted somewhere between a cinnamon scroll and hot cross bun flavoured ice cream, as the spice is more prominent in the ice cream than in the hot cross buns. We were genuinely surprised by how much we enjoyed the ice cream — we went back for seconds — as we’d expected it to taste horrible.
This Woolworths Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream contained 1.5 L. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
