Shary Fruit Crisps Kiwifruit Slices

This is the Shary Fruit Crisps Kiwifruit Slices, a fried fruit crisp featuring sliced kiwifruit. Each 50 g bag contained 315 g of fresh kiwifruit.

The crisps presented with oval cross-sections of kiwifruit measuring approximately 6 × 5 × 0.5 cm. The slices carried a golden-green hue with a powdery surface coating. The structure appeared dense. Aroma opened with a generic fried note, with little identifiable kiwifruit character.

Initial contact delivered a slightly oily, powdery sensation alongside a firm crisp crunch that fractured cleanly without resistance, resembling a fried potato chip more than dried fruit. The outer edge provided the firmest crunch, followed by a softer and more aerated section around the seeds, before transitioning into an even denser and firmer central core. Through the mid-palate, only a faint fruitiness emerged. The characteristic sweet-tart brightness associated with fresh kiwifruit was largely absent, overwhelmed by the frying process. The product retained the visual structure of the fruit more successfully than its flavour profile. Towards the finish, the denser core introduced a cooler sensation on the palate compared to the lighter aerated outer sections, creating some internal textural variation. Despite this, the kiwifruit flavour itself remained muted throughout.

Overall, a fried fruit crisp with strong structural contrast but minimal flavour development, resulting in a product more defined by texture and appearance than by recognisable kiwifruit character.
