In Spring 2024, Godiva collaborated with Tōkyō Lamington, known for its innovative takes on the classic Australian lamington, to create a fusion of Belgian chocolate truffles and lamingtons.
Each box ($34.90) featured three lamingtons: the Traditional Truffle Lamington, the Dark Buttercream Truffle Lamington, and Tōkyō Lamington’s OG Lamington.

The Traditional Truffle Lamington consisted of milk chocolate sponge cake filled with layers of milk chocolate mousse and ganache, encased in a milk chocolate hard shell, coated in dark chocolate, and rolled in cocoa powder.
This featured a light, unsweetened sponge that stayed soft and moist, thanks to the protective shell. The unsweetened sponge balanced beautifully with the rich, creamy mousse and ganache, which melted into a decadent creaminess on the palate.

The Dark Buttercream Truffle Lamington featured a milk chocolate sponge filled with buttercream, dipped in a dark chocolate shell, and coated with dark chocolate flakes.
The light and moist sponge was again aided by the hard shell, but the savoury buttercream lifted the richness of the dark chocolate in a way that was not to our taste. We preferred the more balanced flavours of the Traditional Truffle Lamington.

The OG Lamington was a vanilla sponge cake filled with raspberry jam and vanilla cream, dipped in chocolate sauce, and coated with shredded coconut.
After Tōkyō Lamington’s many creative offerings, this was our first time trying the original lamington, and we were delighted. The light, moist sponge paired perfectly with the cream’s softness, the fruity acidity of the raspberry, the gentle chew of the coconut, and the rich chocolate coating.
This Godiva x Tōkyō Lamington collaboration was available from 26 August 2024 at all Godiva retail locations in Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, as well as Tōkyō Lamington stores in Sydney and Melbourne.
