Showa Mochicco’s pancake mix uses 100% Hokkaidō wheat flour and has a moist, fluffy and pleasant texture. This pack contained 4 individual bags of pancake mix with the aroma of maple syrup and butter. Its special recipe makes the pancakes moist and delicious even when cold. You can even mix the batter with tofu, melted butter or Japanese mayonnaise for different texture and flavour.
Each bag contained four individually sealed 120 g bags of pancake mix.

The pancakes were prepared by whisking together 1 egg and 80 mL milk in a bowl before mixing in one 120 g bag of pancake mix and whisking until smooth.

The packaging also suggested adding one of the following to change the outcome of the pancakes:
- 50 g of tofu to increase the moistness,
- 10 g of butter to increase the richness and flavour, or
- 10 g of mayonnaise to increase the fluffiness.
Here (above), the addition of 10 g of mayonnaise gave the batter a smoother consistency.
The pancakes were cooked using the following instructions:
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat, place on top of a damp cloth to cool a little, then add 1/3 of the pancake mix.
- Heat on a low flame for about 3 mins till bubbles form on the top. Flip the pancake and cook for a further 3 minutes until brown on both sides. Repeat twice more with the rest of the batter.

When using the mix straight from the packet, the hotcakes proved to be delightfully thick and moist. They exuded a pleasant buttery and maple syrup aroma, both of which translated into a delicious, irresistible flavour with a well-balanced sweetness. Surprisingly, we found that there was no need to enhance the buttery richness or moisture. Instead, our favorite addition was a mere 10 g of mayonnaise, which remarkably amplified the fluffiness.
This hotcake mix completely altered my perception of regular pancakes, a breakfast item I had never been particularly fond of. In this case, a serving of three pancakes was effortlessly devoured, almost like enjoying a piece of cake. Furthermore, the individually sealed bags, each containing four servings of the mix, proved to be incredibly convenient for keeping on hand as a quick and easy breakfast option.

This Showa Mochicco Hotcake Mix contained 120 g x 4. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
