Tarami Dessert Toukoukacha Jelly

This is the Tarami Dessert Toukoukacha Jelly, made with tapioca from Gunma Prefecture and containing both white and golden peach flesh.

The jelly had a translucent red-orange hue with a sweet, lightly tart, and floral peach aroma. It contained four cubes of white peach flesh (about 1.5 cm each), two smaller pieces of golden peach flesh (about 2 × 1 × 1 cm), and around eight black pearls at the base.

Consumed chilled, it delivered an immediate blend of peach and black tea flavour. The peach notes came through floral and lightly tangy, while the tea emerged in the body, creating a rounded fruity tea profile. The combination was well-matched, though the tea itself could have been bolder. Sweetness was more restrained than in other Tarami jellies. The peach flesh had absorbed much of the tea, muting its natural brightness: the white peach had a pleasant initial crunch, while the golden peach was softer. The pearls resembled soft white pearls rather than chewy tapioca, aligning with the style of the dessert.

Overall, enjoyable for its floral peach and tea pairing, but less refreshing than the mango pomelo sago version and not one to repurchase.
