Gotcha White Peach Oolong

This is the White Peach Oolong ($10.00 for 2 drinks promotion, 70% sweetness, no ice, +$0.00.85 for honey pearls). The beverage had an opaque off-white hue and a floral, peach aroma.

Consumed chilled, peach notes appeared immediately at the head of each sip before giving way to the oolong body, which resembled a lightly oxidised Taiwanese oolong with a fruity, slightly verdant presence. The peach returned in the finish with a floral quality that lingered prominently. The peach oolong notes held their own against the creamy milk base without being overshadowed or turning cloying. The honey pearls, however, were white pearls mixed with honey rather than the more familiar chewy tapioca pearls. Their firmer, bitey texture was poorly matched to the creaminess of the milk tea, and the added honey tipped the sweetness balance too far. Black tapioca pearls would have provided better alignment with the tea profile.

Overall, this milk tea showcased a vibrant and well-executed peach oolong flavour, though Tea Republic’s version offered a more balanced, refreshing profile and the preferred chewy honey pearls. This rendition is praiseworthy for intensity, but not the most balanced option.

This White Peach Oolong was purchased from Gotcha in Sydney, Australia in September 2025.
