This is the Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream Laneway Sweets Rocky Road. The Laneway Sweets series is an ‘ode to secret laneways and the indulgent creations you discover there’.

The Rocky Road flavour featured a centre of marshmallow-flavoured ice cream with Derwent Valley raspberry syrup swirls (7%), encased in a layer of chocolate ice cream and peanuts, all coated in milk chocolate (28%) and peanuts (7%). Each ice cream stick is about 10 cm in length.

On biting through, the thick milk chocolate casing gave both structural integrity as well as an audibly crisp mouthfeel. The nuts in the chocolate were generous and plentiful, delivering a warm nuttiness to every bite as the chocolate melted to a bold richness that contrasted both the texture and the taste of the more mellow and creamy softness of the chocolate ice cream within. The fruity centre brought a complementary hint of sweet acidity that cut through the richness of the chocolate. While the ice cream lacked the chewiness of the marshmallows in rocky road, it captured its flavours very well for an enjoyable treat.
