Right from the initial bite, a pleasantly sharp and robust wasabi flavour emerged, persisting throughout the first half of each chip. As the chip gradually melted on the palate, the wasabi’s intensity mellowed into a subtle sweetness, a characteristic often found in corn-based Korean snacks. Towards the end, a delightful and rich umami flavour, reminiscent of steak, took center stage. With each chip consumed, the enduring essence of wasabi carried over to the next, creating a bold and savory flavour profile that indeed evoked the essence of steak with wasabi, all without the overpowering sinus-clearing intensity typically associated with wasabi peas. In conclusion, we found the steak wasabi flavour of these chips quite enjoyable, though a touch less sweetness would have been preferable.
