This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Saga Ichigosan, made with juice from strawberries cultivated in Saga Prefecture. The Ichigosan variety is known for its striking appearance—defined by its elegant colour and shape—as well as its refined sweetness and bright, juicy freshness.

Each gummy had an opaque pinkish-red hue and measured approximately 2 cm across and 1 cm high. A sweet, fragrant strawberry aroma was immediately apparent. On tasting, the sour crystals on the surface provided an initial crunch and tang, followed by a firm, elastic exterior that gave way to a soft, jelly-like centre. The strawberry flavour appeared promptly and sustained throughout the tasting, anchored by the rich, tart sweetness of the jelly. As chewing continued, the interplay between the sweet centre and the tangy outer layer intensified, offering a well-balanced profile marked by bright acidity and restrained sweetness. Unlike many strawberry confections that veer into jam-like territory, this one maintained a sense of freshness and clarity in its flavour.
This Nippon Yell Gummy Saga Ichigosan contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
