With a penchant for piquant flavours, D is always on the lookout for chilli flavoured chips. These Tyrrells Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper were an addition to the lineup in early 2018.

These chips have a mellow aroma of crushed pepper and are dusted in specks of dark brown, almost black seasoning. Upon tasting, the sweetness from the chips is strong, recalling the sweetness of red bell peppers, and persisted through to mid-bite before developing into a more honey-like sweetness ahead of the sharper notes of black pepper and gentle heat of chilli in the finish. Overall, the honey sweetness and the lack of heat in the chilli are offputting enough for me to avoid reaching for them when D, who enjoys the flavour, has a bag open.
