Jiggle Cheesecake, Carlingford

Jiggle Cheesecake relocated Carlingford Court Food Court in May 2019, making it the perfect place to pick up dessert after our increasingly frequent visits to Albee’s Secret Recipe.

They specialise in Japanese baked cheesecake ala the sponge cake style popularised by Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake rather than the medium rare style from Pablo Cheesecake.

This is the Jiggle Cheese Cake Espresso (6″ for $13.00). It has a pale brown colour throughout.

The cheesecake has a gentle aroma of espresso and came through similarly on tasting. The cheesecake itself is incredibly fluffy, light as air, and while we initially thought we’d enjoy a brighter espresso flavour, its the mild espresso notes and the mellow sweetness that keeps us chasing the next bite. This cheesecake is incredibly easy to demolish in one sitting (between two!) and definitely gave Uncle Tetsu’s a run for their money.

2022

Jiggle Cheesecake in Carlingford is known for its souffle cheesecakes, in a similar style to the more widely known Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake. We’d previously tried their coffee version.

Baby Jiggle Matcha ($6.90). Matcha was incorporated into part of the batter to create distinctive green swirls in the souffle cheesecake.

The cheesecake emitted a sweet aroma with a subtle cream cheese fragrance, though matcha notes were not prominently evident. Upon tasting, the cheesecake proved to be light and fluffy, featuring a moist, melt-in-the-mouth texture. The cream cheese notes offered a mild acidity, more subdued than in mousse or basque cheesecakes. This acidity was further tempered in the matcha segments, where the mild vegetal quality effectively masked it.

Baby Jiggle Chocolate ($6.90).

Similar to the matcha version, the chocolate segments played a significant role in toning down the cream cheese acidity. While both variations were enjoyable, we lean towards the espresso flavor, which unfortunately was no longer available.

Egg Tart ($1.60)

The egg tarts used a shortcrust pastry that was both buttery and crumbly. While the filling was smooth, it was a bit too firm for our liking, missing the signature jiggle. Additionally, the flavour lacked the rich notes of vanilla or the distinct eggy essence found in excellent egg tarts.

Jiggle Cheesecake is located at Shop KI 102, Carlingford Court, Carlingford NSW 2118.
