After a quick fix of fish and chips, we stopped by Fish ‘n’ Chix in Stocklands Merryland Shopping Centre after seeing a deal for $5.00.95 including a 375 mL can of drink.
This is the Battered Fish and Chips.
The battered fish was crispy while the fish itself was juicy with good fresh flavour. We’re always happy for crispy batter, which can be a hit and miss sometimes. The chips, though, were undercooked.
This is the Grilled Fish and Chips.
The grilled fish is made to order, while the battered is made in regular batches, so it’s a 5-minute wait for juicy flaky white fish sprinkled with an Italian herb mix that went well the squeeze of lemon. While I’d have preferred the grilled fish at Steve Costis Seafood in Northbridge, this one was tasty aside from the underdone chips.
This is the Crumbed Fish and Chips
The crumb on this fish is one of the crispiest we’ve encountered, which contrasts well with flakey fish within. The chips on this second visit were cooked better, although it still lacked that coveted crispy skin and fluffy innards.
We’d return for the fish at Fish ‘n’ Chix, especially given the affordable price for the meal.

We used to eat fish and chips on a semi-regular basis at Costi’s @ Westpoint up until a few years ago. Now, Blacktown is a trek, so we tried Fish ‘n’ Chix in Carligford to satisfy our fried fish craving. We’d previously tried the store at Merrylands Stocklands and we’re happy to see the same $5.00.95 deal repeated here.
This is the Grilled Fish and Chips ($5.00.95, includes 375 mL can of drink).
The fish is grilled to order and uses the same Italian herb mix as at Merrylands. The fish is just cooked through for juicy and flaky flesh, although it did leave a slightly chewy skin on the fish. The chips were well-seasoned and cooked through with a crisp skin, but were a tad sweet much potatoes that have had their starches turned into sugar in the refrigerator.

D’s crumbed fish is also fried to order in contrast to the store in Merrylands. He enjoys the crisp skin and juicy, flaky fish immensely. At such an affordable price, he’d be happy to go back for seconds for a truly belly satisfying meal.
