Whenever I’m in the vicinity, I drop by Stitch Coffee for some good coffee and pastries.

Higgsfield Cookie ($5.00), a 10 cm cookie made in-house with their Higgsfield coffee blend, and dark chocolate chips and topped with a sprinkle of sea salt.

The cookie was the optimal combination of a crispy exterior with a chewy interior without being overly moist or doughy. The coffee notes came through from the first bite and persisted throughout the bite with a subtlety that enhanced the depth of the chocolate’s flavour without overpowering, while the sweetness from the generous amount of choc chips was beautifully offset by the sprinkling of sea salt.

Homemade Vanilla and Yuzu Canelé ($6.00).

The canelé had a crispy caramelised crust that gave way to a rich interior that was moist with bright notes of yuzu. The yuzu flavour that came through was floral notes of the yuzu juice itself and was not reliant on yuzu marmalade, with no rind or zest to disrupt the canelé’s usual texture. While I thoroughly enjoyed this canelé, I do prefer the basic eggy flavour of the rum/whisky and vanilla recipes.

Espresso Soft Serve ($5.00)
The soft serve uses Stich Coffee’s in-house Higgsfield blend and was available throughout the summer months. The balanced berry and toffee notes of the coffee blend came through beautifully to give this soft serve that extra depth to complement its creamy mouthfeel. This was a definite winner and the perfect alternative to an iced coffee on a hot summer day.
