This is the Shikanai Senbei Tsugaru Atsuyaki Mame, a specialty of the Tsugaru region, made with peanuts sourced from South America and the United States.

The cracker was circular, approximately 8 cm in diameter and 2 mm thick, with a slightly convex centre reaching about 4 mm in height and surrounded by a 1 cm-wide rim, giving it a shallow, flattened dome-like appearance.

This variety was notably more generously packed with peanuts than other brands we encountered. However, this also meant the biscuit component had minimal presence—if any at all—resulting in a taste almost entirely dominated by roasted peanuts with their skins intact, bound together by an unobtrusive dough. Unlike other brands with a crisp or crunchy base, this cracker relied on the soft crunch of the peanuts as its primary texture. While it was a true celebration of peanuts and undeniably flavourful, we found ourselves missing the more pronounced biscuit element present in other versions.
